Mike Vrabel Has Been Introduced As The Savior Of The Patriots

It's not often things this obvious come to fruition in the NFL. There's usually suspense, smoke and mirrors, fabrications of a story for no other reason than content for the six million shows that are on TV and over radio waves.
But since the minute Jerod Mayo was released of his duties as the head coach of the New England Patriots (release of duties is much softer than saying fired - I still like Mayo so trying to be nice), the choice was obvious. Mayo didn't get canned because of the train wreck of a team he fielded when he was in charge. It wasn't because his Monday morning weekly radio hits were spent backtracking the things he said at the podium on Sunday after a bad loss. It wasn't cause RKK thought he was a lost cause that was in over his head.
Partly all of those reasons, yes, as they're all true. But he was fired cause the road to prosperity was unclear. The front windshield was fogged up, and the heater in the rust bucket we were driving wasn't turning on. And while it's possible we'd had gotten home safe, taken that chance, we decided to pull over next to the AAA truck that just so happened to be on the side of the road and ask for a ride.
We fired Mayo because Mike Vrabel was available, and Kraft wasn't going to fuck up again and not hire him like last year.
This is a home run hire any way you cut it. The clear cut best coach available, Mikey V could've interviewed anywhere. If you listened to any city with a head coaching vancancy's sports radio since November (I say that since I live and Chicago and everyone's dream scenario when Eberflus kicked the can was Vrabel) he'd be most fanbases preferred and hopeful choice. It's not often a proven successful head coach in the NFL is a free agent. It's not often a head coach in the NFL is even successful. So when that opportunity comes, and when that opportunity is one of your team's hall of fame members who loves the Patriots so much he got fired from the Titans, you pounce.
With Mike Vrabel the uncertainty is gone. The questions of whether you have a capable man in charge of the program are gone. The worry that you'll be a frequent flyer on the coaching carousel is gone. The doubt of direction, of who's really making the decisions, and if those people making the decisions are worthy of making decisions, is gone.
Vrabes has an uncanny ability to be fun to play for and rip your asshole apart for not doing what you're supposed to do. The multifaceted personality that can relate to players while earning and having their respect. He can resonate with players of all levels and stages of their career, as he mentioned in his intro presser. He cares about them, and has a way about him that when he tells you, you believe him. He's no nonsense, when's it's time. He'll sweet talk a reporter saying she hasn't aged since she was interviewing him in the locker room as a Patriot player, then be right back to business in the next sentence, with a smug face saying how "we're gonna remove entitlement" in the organization.
He's a guy that has it, whatever it may be to you. He's a proven winner as a player. He's a proven winner as a coach. Hell, he headed a Ryan Tannehill-led team to a 1-seed and an AFC Championship game in two separate years. His old teammates have referred to him as the smartest player they've ever played with, and the greatest coach of all time has nothing but glowing reviews about his coaching.
The Patriots fixed their broken heater. The windshield is still foggy, but soon it'll be clear, and hopefully not foggy for a long time.
